In the beginning of Exodus chapter 38, we read that “He made the altar of burnt offering…” This “He” in the chapter refers to Bezalel, the chief artisan of the Tabernacle. God had called Bezalel to this position as recorded in chapter 31 saying, “I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, to design artistic works, to work in gold, in silver, in bronze, in cutting jewels for setting, and in carving wood.” The Lord had also appointed with him Oholiab, putting wisdom in the hearts of all the gifted artisans that they may make all that God had commanded in Moses’s vision. Bezalel and Oholiab proceeded to make the tabernacle in chapter 36, the ark of the Testimony and its mercy seat, the furniture in the tabernacle, the table for the showbread and its utensils, the pure gold lampstand, and the altar of incense in chapter 37. Chapter 38 centers on making the altar of burnt offering, the bronze laver, the court of the tabernacle, and the materials of the tabernacle. Oholiab, who worked under Bezalel was a skilled engraver, designer, and weaver.

Just as Oholiab worked under Bezalel, we also need to have a heart that submits to leadership. When we do that, we can be united and accomplish more for God’s kingdom. Joshua served under Moses while all the Israelites were in the wilderness. He was divinely appointed and ordained as successor of Moses. After the death of Moses he was divinely installed as leader of Israel. Joshua didn’t become leader over night. It took years. The Bible teaches us in 1 Peter 5:6 to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt us in due time.
如同亞何利亞伯在比撒列底下同工，我們也需要有順服領導者的心。當我們如此行的時候，我們能夠合一，為神的國度完成更多的事情。當以色列人在曠野裡，約書亞在摩西底下服事。他被委派接任摩西的位置。摩西死後，他被立為以色列的領袖。約書亞並不是一夜就成為領袖，而是歷經了多年的時間。聖經在彼得前書5:6教導我們要自卑，服在神大能的手下，到了時候他必叫我們升高。
Greatness in the kingdom of God also comes from serving. Make yourself available to God and He will use you. Jesus said in Matthew chapter 20 that “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and 」who are great exercise great authority over them. Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to be great among you, let him be your slave-just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and give His life a ransom for many.”
神國度的偉大也來自於服事。讓你自己成為可用的，神要使用你。耶穌在馬太福音第20章說「你們知道，外邦人有君王為主治理他們，有大臣操權管束他們。只是在你們中間不可這樣，你們中間誰願為大，就必做你們的用人；誰願為首，就必做你們的僕人。正如人子來不是要受人的服侍，乃是要服侍人，並且要捨命做多人的贖價。」
What we can also glean from this part of Exodus is that we will experience God’s blessing when we keep ourselves in the house of God. Psalm 92:13 says “Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.” When we keep ourselves connected to the body of Christ, God opens doors of opportunity to us. When we are firmly planted in God’s house, our roots go down deep and we can weather whatever storms come our way. Moreover, we will continue to bear fruit when we are connected to His church.
我們在出埃及記的這部分還可以領受到的是，當我們在神的家，我們就會經歷神的祝福。詩篇92:13說「他們栽於耶和華的殿中，發旺在我們神的院裡。」當我們連結於基督的身體，神向我們打開機會的門。我們堅固地栽於神的家中，我們扎根生長，也能夠受住任何風暴。並且，當我們連結於祂的教會，我們就能繼續結果子。
Exodus 38 also highlights the presence of God and how He is to be worshipped. When Jesus and his disciples passed through Samaria, the disciples went into town to buy food and Jesus stopped at Jacob’s well for a drink of water. In meeting the woman at the well, she acknowledged that Jerusalem was the place where one should worship. But Jesus said in John 4:21 that the time is coming “when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father.” Jesus goes on to say that “the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.” As believers in Christ, the place where we worship Him is irrelevant, but God is Spirit, therefore we worship Him in spirit and in truth.
出埃及記第38章也突顯神的同在以及要如何敬拜祂。當耶穌和門徒經過撒馬利亞， 那時門徒進城買食物去了，耶穌到了雅各井找水喝，在井邊遇見一位婦人，她說應當禮拜的地方是在耶路撒冷，但耶穌在約翰福音4:21說：「時候將到，你們拜父也不在這山上，也不在耶路撒冷。」耶穌繼續說：「那真正拜父的，要用心靈和誠實拜他，因為父要這樣的人拜他。」身為基督徒，敬拜神的地方無關緊要，神是靈，所以我們要用心靈和誠實敬拜祂。
Let’s pray. Father God we humble our hearts before you. We know that you are the almighty God and that there is no unrighteousness in you, as You are a righteous God. We know that the only way to be right with you and have a relationship with you is through Jesus Christ. To be able to stand in your presence is everything to us. For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. We thank you for all the rich blessings you have given us through being connected to the family of faith. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
我們一起禱告。父神我們謙卑在祢面前，我們知道祢是全能的上帝，在祢裡面沒有任何不義，因為祢是公義的神。我們知道唯一能夠與祢和好的方式是透過耶穌基督與祢建立關係。祢的同在對我們而言是生命的一切。因為在祢殿中一日勝過在世上千日。我們感謝祢，透過與信仰的家人連結賜給我們豐富的祝福。奉耶穌的名我們禱告。阿們。
